Seiðr Ritual Oil can be used during Seiðr rituals involving trance work, healing rituals involving the dead or ancestors. It can be used to anoint altar items, used in Trollpåse (Troll pouch) Seiðr is the most prominent ritual practice that the völva undertakes,combining prophecy, spirit communication and the manipulation of fate. Once the völva is in an altered trance state , induced by rhythmic chanting, and by drumming by using her metal she can communicate with the nature spirits, gods or the dead to gain insight into the future or to influence events. In Norse mythology, the elk is a guardian acting like a shield, anticipating and defending against threats.

The elk is associated with the rune Algiz which is burnt into the back of this pendant. Algiz connects us to the gods, in particular Heimdall who is the protector of the Bifrost which links Miðgarðr (realm of the humans) and Ásgarðr (realm of the Æsir gods).
